ATLANTA — After a dominant week on the field, Albany State’s softball team was recognized at the conference level in a big way.
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday, April 7, and the Lady Golden Rams swept the honors, with senior infielder Avery Fisher named Player of the Week and freshman pitcher McKenzie Fitch earning Pitcher of the Week.
Fisher powered Albany State’s offense during an explosive stretch at the plate, delivering timely hits and extra-base production that helped fuel multiple run-rule victories. The senior from Richmond Hill consistently came through in key moments, showcasing both power and precision.

Fisher’s standout week included multiple extra-base hits and home runs, along with clutch RBIs that set the tone for an offense that overwhelmed opponents. Her ability to produce in high-pressure situations played a major role in Albany State finishing the week undefeated.
In the circle, Fitch delivered a performance that matched the offensive firepower.
The freshman from Dacula turned in a dominant outing, highlighted by a complete-game shutout in a 9-0 victory. Fitch allowed just two hits, struck out three and did not issue a walk, controlling the tempo from start to finish.

Her command and composure kept opposing hitters off balance throughout the game, and her efficiency allowed Albany State to maintain momentum during a strong overall week.
Together, Fisher and Fitch led a Lady Golden Rams squad that continues to build confidence as the season progresses, with both the offense and pitching staff clicking at the right time.
