ALBANY — Are you ready for some football?
The Albany State Golden Rams will conclude spring practice Saturday with the annual Blue and Gold game at the Albany State Coliseum in Albany. The game will kick off at noon. Admission to the game is free.
The Golden Rams have gone through 14 spring practice sessions, which begin in February.
Albany State will open the football season at Valdosta State University on Aug. 31st and then host its first home game of the season on a Thursday night, Sept. 5, against Shaw University from Raleigh, North Carolina.
“Our student-athletes have put in tremendous work and dedication during our winter conditioning, and they have done a great job of transitioning that to the practice field throughout the spring season,” said Albany State head football coach Quinn Gray. “They have shown flashes of being a good football team, and they are looking forward to displaying that in front of family and friends during this weekend’s Blue and Gold Game, which is the culmination of the spring season. As a coach, you look forward to the end of spring so that you can have a chance to see it all come together in a game-type situation with referees and fans, to observe how your team handles certain situations. So, this is an exciting week for our program and our university, and we are definitely looking forward to having a good time this weekend in an effort to #MoveTheNeedle!”
The Golden Rams made it to the SIAC championship game and finished with a 6-5 record in Quinn’s first season with the Golden Rams. The Golden Rams will return a host of starters, including quarterback Isaiah Knowles and running back Fredderick Gaines. Quinn and his staff also recruited 25 new players to join the Golden Rams and some of those new players are already in Albany for Saturday’s game.
Albany State season ticket renewals for ASU’s 2024 football season are active. Fans may visit or call Al McKendrick at (229) 500-2852 to renew for the upcoming fall. The priority deadline for renewals is May 1.
