INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA announced Sept. 8 that SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman, Ed.D., has been appointed chair of the National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Committee, becoming the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) representative to hold the position in the governing body’s history.
“It is a tremendous honor to be selected by my colleagues to chair this committee on behalf of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and its members,” Holloman said. “I am very excited to continue the important work of the Men’s NC Volleyball Committee, to deliver incredible championship experiences.”
Holloman, a member of the committee since 2023, succeeds outgoing chair Anthony Archibald of Princeton University. His one-year term begins Sept. 1, with the option to extend for a second year after the 2025-26 season.
His appointment became official at the committee’s annual summer meeting, held June 11-12 in Indianapolis, with the vote finalized June 12.
NCAA Coordinator of Championships and Alliances Ethan Walker expressed his excitement regarding Holloman’s appointment.
“I am thrilled to have Dr. Holloman on board as the next chair of the NCAA National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Committee,” Walker said. “He is well respected by his peers on the committee and throughout the men’s volleyball community. I look forward to serving with him in guiding the committee during his term, beginning this month.”
The five-member committee oversees the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship and is responsible for site selection, bracketing, assigning of officials, enforcing rules and policies, coordinating ancillary events such as the volleyball social and managing awards selections.
