INDIANAPOLIS — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference maintained its hold on the top three positions in Super Region Two for the third consecutive week as the NCAA released its updated Division II football NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings Sunday, Nov. 1. Kentucky State led the region at No. 1, Central State surged three positions to No. 2, and Benedict held steady at No. 3. Edward Waters claimed the No. 5 position, giving the SIAC four of the region’s top five.

Kentucky State maintained the region’s No. 1 position during its bye week, holding a 61.834 NPI and a 7-1 Division II record. Central State advanced from No. 5 to No. 2 with a 61.116 NPI and a 6-1 record, while Benedict held steady at No. 3 with a 60.965 NPI and an 8-1 record. All three programs rank among the top 15 nationally, with Kentucky State at No. 10, Central State at No. 13 and Benedict at No. 14.

Central State’s three-position climb marked the conference’s most significant movement among the region’s top five, propelling the Marauders six positions nationally from No. 19 to No. 13. Edward Waters followed at No. 5 with a 58.772 NPI and a 5-2 record, ranking No. 20 nationally. The SIAC now has four programs among the nation’s top 20 and continues to occupy four of Super Region Two’s top five positions for the second consecutive week.

Tuskegee also maintained its position among the region’s top 10, holding steady at No. 10 with a 54.301 NPI and a 5-3 record, giving the SIAC five programs among the region’s top 10.

Beyond the top 10, Miles ranked No. 14, while Albany State recorded the conference’s largest overall regional improvement, climbing six positions from No. 23 to No. 17. Morehouse (No. 22), Clark Atlanta (No. 23), Allen (No. 26), Fort Valley State (No. 27), Lane (No. 30) and Savannah State (No. 31) rounded out the conference’s representation in the 33-team regional standings.

Introduced for Division II football in 2026, the NCAA’s NPI system replaces the traditional regional ranking process and evaluates teams based on game results and strength of schedule. The system establishes national rankings while continuing to reflect each team’s standing within its region for NCAA championship consideration.

The NPI will be updated each Sunday for the remainder of the season until the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, Nov. 15. The final rankings will not be posted publicly Nov. 15 until after the Selection Show.
