ALBANY — Just in time for the approaching winter, an Albany church is holding a Saturday clothing giveaway that will provide coats as well as other clothing and a selection of neckties at no cost.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church will hold the giveaway from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at its 2605 Sylvester Road sanctuary.

“This is a part of our outreach initiative to try to help the community in the time of need,” church member Princess Milledge said. “It’s part of our outreach to reach the community.”

This will be the second clothing giveaway for the congregation, with the spring 2023 event drawing an estimated 100 to 200 people.

Available items will include coats, boots and shoes, and other clothing articles for adults and children. The church also will give away fruit.

“There was such a need, so that’s why we decided to do it again,” Milledge said. “So many people were so appreciative of the donations.

“We gave away bags and bags of clothes. Church members donated clothes, and there were other community members who gave them to the church.”

Several people have donated neckties for the Saturday giveaway as well, Milledge said.
