Albany Chorale concert scheduled Thursday

The public is invited to join the Albany Chorale at 7 p.m. on Thursday for a fun evening of music at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany.

ALBANY — “Pop & Funfare, Music to Make You Smile” will be the next concert offered by the Albany Chorale. The public is invited to join in at 7 p.m. on Thursday for a fun evening of music at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2126 E. Edgewater Drive, in Albany.

Chorale officials say his concert is certain to stir memories as it includes a wide variety of selections of popular music from the 20th to the 21st century.

“Come out and join us, as you are sure to hear a favorite showtime or pop song,” Chorale board member Alicia Jackson said. “There’s something for everyone. We are singing songs from as far back as the 1930s to the 2000s, but all have remained beloved through the years.”

Pieces from Broadway, movies, and television are represented, as well as a variety of musical groups and singers, including the Beatles, Cindi Lauper, Frank Sinatra and more.

the ensemble and should be an enjoyable evening for the audience.”

Added chorale member Marilyn DeLong: “I’m excited about this upcoming concert as it has so many different pop songs from different decades. It will be fun for everyone.”

Whether you are transported back to a theater or to a time just hanging out with friends, this program is practically guaranteed to stir up happy memories, Chorale officials said.

Albany Chorale is a nonprofit organization, and concerts are free to the community, but, donations are happily accepted. The Chorale is always looking for new members. Anyone who loves to sing is invited to join in; rehearsals are Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at Covenant.
