The Albany Special Olympics team is headed to Atlanta to compete this weekend for the Georgia Olympics at Emory University. The Albany Recreation and Parks Department, led by Director Steven Belk, hosted a huge sendoff for the team Friday morning near Tift Park in Albany. The special athletes organized by Ms. Tee, walked down the red carpet to cheers of those gathered for the event and into waiting vans.

The Albany Police Department and the Albany Fire Department provided escorts through the city out to Cheehaw Park where the vans then went on their own to Atlanta.
