CARTER SCHEDULE

President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school on Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church, 148 Georgia 45 Highway North, Plains. The Sunday school class starts at 10 a.m. and is preceded by an orientation period at 9 a.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. SPECIAL SERVICES

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 325 Whitney Ave., Albany, will conducts its Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday. The service will include Rutha Harris and the Freedom Singers, Geraldine Hudley, Charles and Shirley Sherrod, Dr. C.W. Grant, Frank Wilson, Dr. Willie Adams, the Rev. Charles J. Burney and others.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Jones Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 317 W. Railroad St., Sylvester, will conduct a Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration March at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Jones Chapel. The theme is “Keeping the Dream and Making a Change in Our Community.” The speaker will be the Rev. Justin Johnson, pastor of Greater New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvester.

The Faithful Servants quartet will have its 9th anniversary sing at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at Victory Baptist Church, 3917 U.S. Highway 319 South, Tifton. An appreciation meal will be served in the social hall immediately after the singing.

Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 431 S. Pinetree Blvd., Thomasville, will have A New Year’s Gospel Explosion at 5 p.m. Jan. 22, which will include singing, praising and praise dancing.
