CARTER SCHEDULE
President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church, 148 Georgia 45 Highway North, Plains. The Sunday school class starts at 10 a.m. and is preceded by an orientation period at 9 a.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. The church building opens at 7:30 a.m. Please note Carter’s schedule is subject to change. Visit the church website at www.mbcplains.org.
SPECIAL SERVICES
First Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 151st anniversary Sunday. The theme for the celebration is “Running the Race,” taken from Hebrews 12:1-2. Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. followed by morning worship at 10 a.m. The Rev. Lawrence A. Johnson, the church’s pastor, will deliver the morning message. The church is at 7108 Newton Road.
A 41st anniversary celebration for Sister Beverly Hammonds will be conducted at Liberty Hill Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday. Special guest choirs will include Greater Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, St. Paul Mass & Male Choir, Sister Carolyn & Betty Scott, and others.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 431 S. Pinetree Blvd., Thomasville, will conduct a birthday celebration dinner for the church’s pastor, Bishop Tremaine O. Alford Sr., at 5 p.m. Aug. 20.
