RECIPE: Old Virginia Apple Cobbler
American Hometown Media
By Amy Wallace from Forest, VA, American Hometown Media
Made with very basic ingredients, this is a delicious old-fashioned apple cobbler. The apple filling is sweet with a hint of spice. The apples in this wonderful recipe literally seem to caramelize. Make sure to cook the filling until it’s nice and thick because it will thin out while baking. Baked to flaky perfection, the crust has a very old-fashioned feel. The great thing about a cobbler, compared to a pie, is that they are meant to look a little rustic and not perfect. Have fun with the crust – we added a few apples to ours!
