Residence of Paula and Bruce Melton recognized as top yard for April

ALBANY — An Oakland Road home has been selected by the Daffodil Garden Club as its Yard of the Month for the Albany area.
Marideane Maxwell, chair of the club’s selection committee, said the residence of Paula and Bruce Melton at 790 Oakland Drive in southern Lee County has been recognized as the top April home and yard in the Albany area.
“Paula and Bruce Melton live here with their four dogs,” she said, “and Paula gives credit to Andre for keeping the yard in pristine condition.”
Achieving the desired look of the property was no quick project, Maxwell said.
“It took two years of renovation on the house and yard before they were able to move in,” Maxwell noted. “They have been in the home about 2 1/2 years and they have much to enjoy.”
She said the residence has “many areas for you to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.”
“The house sits a ways off the road and you can reach the front door by driving through the gate and circling in front of the house,” Maxwell said. “There are fountains, statuary, a tree swing and great sitting areas.
“Beautiful pots abound, as well trees and shrubs to make this an inviting yard.”
Each month, the Daffodil Garden Club recognizes a metro Albany residence for outstanding yardscaping. Members of the club say they hope that by spotlighting an attractive home each month, they will encourage others to take more interest in their own residences.
The club accepts nominations from the public for its recognition program. To nominate a home in the Albany area, call (229) 436-6888 and leave a message with the location. The nominating committee will check out the suggestions.
The Daffodil Garden Club meets at 11 a.m. on the third Tuesday in the months of September through May at the Federated Garden Center, 808 Fifth Ave. The club’s next meeting is scheduled for April 19.
