LETTER TO THE EDITOR: The world today … in verse

To the Editor:

ISRAEL ATTACKED

You know that Israel has been attacked

I’m sure you’ve seen the news.

Hundreds of people lying dead

They were killed because they were Jews.

What does this mean for all of us?

Whose side do we stand on?

We need to know what God has said

That is what we stand upon.

For Israel is God’s chosen land

They are his chosen nation.

For Abraham was God’s friend

And that is what we build our faith on.

For Israel is called the apple of God’s eye

And any nation that attacks them

Has been deceived and believed a lie

That brings a curse upon them.

America has been given a heritage

A Judeo-Christian foundation,

The reason we have been greatly blessed

And why we are a free nation.

So stand with Israel today

Don’t let anyone deceive you,

Believe the word that God has said

It will bring a blessing to you.

FREEDOM IS A PRIVILEGE

We all demand our freedom

We say it is our “right.”

But freedom is a privilege

You have to hold it tight.

You cannot wrest your freedom

From another person’s chest

He has the right to freedom

For him and all the rest.

For freedom is a virtue

It was given as a gift

From God who gave his only Son

To set us free from sin.

As long as tyrants hold the power

We lose our liberty,

Our vote has put them in there

Our vote will set us free.

No leader will be perfect

We all have our own sin,

But he who loves this nation

Is the one we want to win.

For he who is on God’s side

As fragile as he can be

Has all of heaven to uphold him

And that we hope to see.

So even though the darkness

Has covered all the earth

God’s light still shines upon this land

And He will break the curse.

He will not forsake us

Our Lord still has a plan

To free us from corruption

If we will take our stand.

God heard the cry of His people

In Egyptian slavery

And He sent to them a Moses

One day to set them free

From slavery and hardship

And from their idols, too.

He brought them out and brought them in

We still have much to do.
