MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE-ALBANY — Enlisted and civilian Marines at MCLB-Albany bid farewell to one of their team members recently when Public Affairs Specialist Jennifer Parks served her final day at the base.

Parks, an award-winning journalist before assuming her role with the MCLB-Albany Public Affairs office, is moving out of state to take a position at another military installation.

Parks started her career at the Albany Marine base in 2019 after an 11-year career as a reporter for The Albany Herald. She graduated from Georgia Southern University.

At The Albany Herald, she won several awards for her reporting.

“I know the base will miss Jennifer’s abundant skills, as will all of southwest Georgia,” Herald Editor Carlton Fletcher said. “She became an excellent reporter during her time at The Herald, and she continued to use her abundant skills at MCLB-Albany.

“I wish Jen and her family well as they start this new journey and hope that the things she learned here in southwest Georgia will continue to serve her well in her new mission. We all know that life is about change, but when someone special leaves to take on a new challenge, we may wish them well but we don’t necessarily have to like it that they’re gone.”
