These establishments were inspected Feb. 15-21 by the Environmental Health offices of Dougherty, Lee, Baker, Terrell, Worth, Mitchell and Calhoun counties. To contact the health office, call (229) 438-3943.

Feb. 21

ARBY’S No. 7131, 2718 Dawson Road

Score: 96

Violations: Observed ice machine chute not clean to sight and touch with alcohol wipe. Discussed with employee to have chute cleaned/sanitized, initiate a more frequent cleaning schedule and educate staff. New Violation. Correct by Feb. 21.

Remarks: +/- 3 degrees Fahrenheit allowed for thermometer accuracy. Employee mentioned that Arby’s has switched to Coke products and there is a work order out to have soda drain repaired/replaced and approximately two tiles near the soda drain replaced.

Violations: Observed no procedure for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that involve the discharge of bodily fluids onto surfaces in the food establishment. PIC was given a copy of the cleanup procedure. Corrected On-Site. Repeat Violation. Observed food not protected from cross-contamination by storing in covered containers. PIC covered food items (frozen okra, cherry tomatoes, hush puppy mix). Corrected On-Site. New Violation. Observed TCS food not maintained at 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below. PIC discarded green beans, rice and cole slaw in the walk-in cooler. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.

Violations: Observed TCS food not maintained at 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below. PIC discarded tomatoes, cheese and lettuce from the prep line. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.

Observed water leak on floor near three-compartment sink. Discussed with employee to have leak repaired. New Violation. Correct March 1.

Remarks: +/- 3 degrees Fahrenheit allowed for thermometer accuracy. Discussed with CFSM that she will need renewal due to upcoming expiration date.

TROPICAL TASTE RESTAURANT, 231 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.

Violations: Observed hand-washing sink was inaccessible due to dirty utensils being stored in the sink. Employee removed utensils. Corrected On-Site. New Violation. Observed cloths for wiping counters and other surfaces in the facility that were not being held in sanitizer solution during periods of non-use. PIC removed the cloths. Corrected On-Site. New Violation. Observed multiple tiles missing from the ceiling due a leak in the ceiling. PIC stated that the roof will be repaired by Fed 20. New Violation.

Remarks: + or – 3 degrees Fahrenheit allowed for thermometer accuracy. The roof was not actively leaking at the time of inspection, so unable to determine all leaking locations. Observed a bin for catching water in the retail space, but not food prep/storage areas. Follow up will be completed on Feb. 20 to ensure the roof has been repaired, but Environmental Health will return in the event of rain to determine leak locations.
