ALBANY — The American Legion Auxiliary Albany Unit 30 honored 14 female veterans and active-duty military personnel recently with a special high tea. This event was held as a tribute to four lady veterans and 10 active-duty military servicewomen stationed at Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany.

Guests enjoyed a selection of fine teas, accompanied by an array of finger sandwiches, scones and pastries. Each honored guest introduced herself, and participants completed a special “friendship chain” and played a game of “Left, Right, Center.” The afternoon not only celebrated the achievements and sacrifices of these servicewomen but also provided a space for camaraderie and fostered a sense of community and appreciation. Each honored guest received a poppy corsage, a gift basket filled with miscellaneous items and a door prize.

The attendees from the base said they’d had a few concerns as they had never attended a “tea party” before but were wonderfully surprised and delighted. Several said they wanted to do it all again soon.

The auxiliary plans to grow the event each year, reaching more of the region’s lady veterans and active-duty servicewomen.
