Leesburg tax rate stays at 6 mills
LEESBURG — Leesburg City Council member have officially voted to maintain the existing tax rate of 6 mills for another year — a move that will result in a small bump in the tax bill for a small number of residents.
Because of a higher tax digest, the same 6 mills rate the city has had for the past five years will generate an additional $5,085 for the city. Most taxpayers will not be affected.
The Council had the option of rolling back the tax rate. If they had taken that stand, then all city taxpayers would have notified a tiny reduction in their city tax bill.
The vote to maintain the 6 mill tax rate was unanimous.
