MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE-ALBANY — In addition to their service to the local community, the state and the nation, Marines at MCLB-Albany also don’t mind lending a hand when it comes to youngsters catching fish and enjoying a day out in the community.

The base in Albany hosted its annual Buddy Fishing Tournament at Covella Pond recently.

Once the air horn sounded, young anglers, with the help of their “buddies,” cast their nets with baited hooks into the water hoping to catch the biggest fish for the grand prize trophy.

Julie Robbins, MCLB-Albany’s Installation and Environment Division natural resources manager, said the pond was stocked with channel catfish donated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Trophies were awarded by gender, age group and largest fish overall.
