ALBANY – The chances of snow are not looking good for July, but Albany will get a visit this week from a well-known Jolly Old Elf during the annual Christmas in July event at Tift Park.

The Tift Park Community Market will host Christmas in July on Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.

Santa Claus, likely decked out in beachwear rather than the red suit made for the chill of winter, will be available for “selfies with Santa.”

“There will be merchandise for the holiday season, from decore to just holiday gift-giving items,” market President Stephen Brimberry said. “There’s jewelry. You can get plants. There will be people out there selling vintage Christmas stuff. It’s our 11th annual Christmas in July.”

The hot weather usually brings attendance down during the summer, but Brimberry said that the Christmas-themed event is an exception.

“That event brings them out,” he said.
