ALBANY, Ga. — A 12-year-old was hit by a car on the 1500 block of Westwood Drive as she walked to the school bus stop at 7 a.m. Tuesday, an Albany Police Department report stated.

Keturah Powe suffered a head laceration, according to the report. She was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and discharged, a hospital spokeswoman said at 7.p.m.

APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said, “Powe was walking south on Westwood Drive heading to the bus stop when 23-year-old Holly Hamilton drove a 2001 Kia Optima north on Westwood Drive, rounded the corner and struck Powe.”

Banks said no charges have been filed at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
