Dougherty County Sheriff’s Capt. Craig Dodd said that during Monday’s calendar call for criminal cases, words between two factions associated with an assault case at a Slappey Boulevard bar were shared as they were leaving the building, which lead to a loud and boisterous verbal altercation outside of the courthouse.

The argument, which is believed to have involved former street gang members, was witnessed by a Dougherty County Police officer who was there for court and who called for backup when the situation got tense, Dodd said.

“The sheriff’s office and the APD responded and got things broken up before it got violent, but one woman was arrested for disorderly conduct,” he said.

Her identity hasn’t been released.

No court was disrupted and no injuries reported.
