ALBANY — The Albany Area Arts Council is inviting art lovers and the public in general to attend the opening reception of “A Room of Her Own,” a powerful exhibition showcasing the work of four area artists.

Featured artists include La Keisha Smith Martin, Aniessa Fudge, Annie Vanoteghem and Camyljah Giddens.

The opening reception for the exhibit is scheduled Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Arts Council’s 215 N. Jackson St. Gallery

“A Room of Her Own” is a celebration of women’s empowerment and artistic expression, with each artist transforming her own gallery space into a deeply personal and compelling visual narrative, officials at the Arts Council said in a news release. The reception provides an evening of art, conversation, and community. Beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The exhibition will be on view from through May 1.

The Albany Area Arts Council’s Gallery is open Monday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment.
