ALBANY — A west Albany woman is accused of attacking her mother with a knife in the early hours of Tuesday.

Santoy Briley, 38, told officers of the Albany Police Department she was lying on a couch at her residence on 3900 block of Rodnor Forest Lane around 2:30 a.m. when she smelled smoke and heard a fire alarm go off.

Officials say when Briley went into her 17-year-old daughter’s room she noticed a pile of smoking clothes and then was attacked with a knife by the daughter, Brashaunna Briley.

According to police, Santoy Briley sustained several non life-threatening wounds in the attack and was later treated and released at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

A police spokeswoman said warrants for aggravated assault have been taken against Brashaunna Briley.
