ALBANY — Police are investigating an break-in early Wednesday at Dollar General, 1411 Dawson Road.
Officials say officers of the Albany Police Department arrived at the scene around 1:40 a.m. and discovered that glass had been broken from the front door of the business and the door had been forced off its frame.
According to a report by officer Rodney Brown, a later viewing of a surveillance video showed an unidentified male carrying a white clothes basket approaching the front door of the business, then throwing something at the glass to break it.
Once inside the store the suspect shattered the glass in a cigarette display case before stuffing “a lot” of cigarette boxes into the basket, then took an unknown amount of clothes from a rack, Brown stated.
Officials say the suspect wore all dark clothing, including a hooded jacket, and appeared to be tall.
Anyone with information concerning the break-in is asked to call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or (229) 436-TIPS (8477) for a possible reward.
