Albany Herald People’s Choice High School Football Player of the Week – Week 8

Editor’s Note: Only three football players were nominated for this week’s Player of the Week poll.

KOBE BUTLER

Position: Running Back

School/Year: Mitchell County, Jr.

Why he’s here: Butler played a big role in helping Mitchell County rout Baconton Charter Friday night and break a four-game losing skid. The junior finished with 123 yards rushing on 12 carries and scored two touchdowns. He also returned a punt 60 yards for a score.

TYLER LOWE

Position: Quarterback

School/Year: Deerfield-Windsor, Sr.

Why he’s here: In just two quarters, Lowe helped stake Deerfield-Windsor to a big lead against Southland Academy, a game the Knights won 34-13. Lowe finished 6 of 8 passing for 121 yards and tossed two touchdowns. He also added a 5-yard touchdown run to help DWS win its fourth straight game.

EMORY MCKENZIE

Position: Quarterback

School/Year: Westover, Sr.

Why he’s here: McKenzie played a major role in helping Westover win its first game, a 26-7 victory over Americus-Sumter last Thursday. McKenzie finished with 220 yards rushing on 15 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns.
