Albany, Lee County YMCAs offering bootcamp programs

ALBANY — Due to popular demand, the Albany Area YMCA is offering two Tabata Bootcamp sessions beginning this month. Tabata Bootcamp is an eight-week program that combines high-intensity interval training with behavior modification for healthy eating.
Participants in Tabata Bootcamp often report significant results with weight loss and overall health. Tabata Bootcamp includes 30-minute group workouts, online tracking of eating and activity, regular fitness assessments, motivational small group atmosphere, practical nutritional guidelines that are designed to help participants make permanent lifestyle changes, website access to more than 50 workout videos for home use and nutritional tips, and oversight and analysis from a local, trained and certified instructor.
The Tabata Bootcamp session in Albany at the Central Facility YMCA will be held Jan. 12 – March 6, with exercise classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30-11 a.m. The Central Facility is located at 1701 Gillionville Road.
The Albany session of Tabata Bootcamp is led by Julie Michas. Michas holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science Education and a Master of Science in Health Science Education from University of Florida, and has been a fitness instructor for over twenty years.
The Lee Branch YMCA Tabata Bootcamp session will be held Jan. 13 – March 7, with exercise classes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Lee Branch YMCA is located at 316 Robert B. Lee Drive in Leesburg.
The Lee Branch sessions are led by Donnette Lewis. Lewis has been a Certified Fitness Instructor for almost 25 years and is certified in more than 10 styles of teaching.
