ALBANY — Several items were taken during a motor vehicle hijacking that reportedly took place early Saturday morning in Albany.

An incident report available from the Albany Police Department said officers responded to 2304 W. Gordon Ave. just before 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with the victim, a 41-year-old man, at the scene, who said he went to Krystal’s on West Oglethorpe Boulevard. While returning home after getting something to eat, a man asked him for a ride on South Jefferson Street.

They got to Gordon Ball Park before the man pulled a gun and told the victim to give up his wallet, cell phone and keys. The victim said he did so and was made to get out of the vehicle, after which the man drove off in the vehicle going south on Willie Pitts Jr. Road, the report said.

The suspect was described as a heavy set black man with a low hair cut and small beard. A call made to the victim’s cell phone went immediately to voicemail, and a lookout was placed on the stolen vehicle, the report said.

The vehicle was described as silver 2010 Chevrolet HHR with a unknown tag number and Dougherty County decal. The wallet contained at least two credit cards and the victim’s driver’s license. The stolen cell phone was a Samsung Galaxy 5, the report said.
