ALBANY — Assistant County Administrator Mike McCoy was named Friday afternoon as one of five finalists to become Albany’s next city manager.

City officials announced the finalists in a brief email Friday. The email said:

“The City of Albany Commission is pleased to announce their top five most qualified candidates. They are Reginald Edwards, Terrell Jacobs, Mike McCoy, Patrick Salerno and Sharon Subadan. The Commission will continue with diligence to find the best City Manager for the City of Albany. The candidates resumes may be viewed in the Albany City Managers office.”

A City Commission committee comprising commissioners Jon Howard, Tommie Postell and Bob Langstaff narrowed the list of candidates to five after interim City Manager Tom Berry had whittled a list of 50 candidates to 10. Postell told The Albany Herald the full commission will schedule interviews with the five candidates.

“If we don’t find the right fit among those five, we’ll take a closer look at the other candidates,” he said.

Berry has told the commission he will stay on as interim city manager until they find the right person to replace him.

In addition to McCoy, Jacobs is from Douglas, Edwards is from Minnesota, and both Salerno and Subadan are from Florida.
