ALBANY — The Albany Council of Community Watches/Associations is hosting a presentation Saturday to educate neighborhood communities on gangs and gang activities.

Capt. Michael J. Persely with the Albany/Dougherty Gang Unit will offer information at the Law Enforcement Center located at 201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd. on ways residents can keep their homes and neighborhoods safe from gangs.

“This is Gangs 101,” said council member and local government liaison Judy Bowles. “The program will help our citizens to recognize gangs, their territories, colors and signs so we can all work toward making our community a better place to live.”

Bowles said the free program will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and last about one hour.

The Council of Community Watches is an organization of smaller neighborhood watch groups and associations and encourages all interested groups or individuals to attend the presentation.
