ALBANY — The Albany Police Department officials say that Samuel Malone, 53, was struck and killed by a moving vehicle Friday as he attempted to cross South Madison Street at Marshall Lane.

Officials say Malone was running west from a private drive around 2:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Dominique Taylor, 22, who was traveling south on South Madison Street.

Madison was transported by EMS to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, officials say, where he was pronounced dead by the emergency center physician. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said no charges have been filed, though the case remains under investigation.
