Albany police capture robbery suspect

ALBANY — A man accused of robbing two Albany businesses on the same day has been apprehended. Officials of the Albany Police Department say Tometrius M. King is believed to have entered Brother’s Convenience Store, 2422 Stuart Ave. in the early morning hours of Nov. 14. and robbed the business at gunpoint.
A short time later, King also robbed the Mini Mart at 2422 Stuart Ave., police officials say. According to police, King was assisted in the robberies by Silas Westbrook, who drove the getaway car, police said.
On Thursday, King was spotted on Burke Street, officials say. Following a brief foot chase across Newton Road, King was apprehended, questioned by police detectives and transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
Following the robberies, King had been sought on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a a weapon during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and probation violation.
Officials say that at the time of King’s arrest that Westbrook had been arrested and taken to the Dougherty County Jail. According to officials, Westbrook is charged with two counts of party to a crime — armed robbery.
