Albany police conducting Tift Avenue homicide investigation

ALBANY — Officials with the Albany Police Department say an Albany man was killed this morning when his throat was cut.

About 6:40 a.m. today, officers responded to 311 W. Tift Ave. in reference to an aggravated assault after a report that a man had suffered a laceration to his throat.

The injured man, identitfied by police as Jimmy Fennell, 37, of 311 W. Tift Ave., died. The case was upgraded to a homicide, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD.

A person of interest is being questioned regarding the death. The case is under investigation, Banks said.
