Albany Police Department nabs burglary suspect

ALBANY — Around noon on Monday, Albany Police officers spotted an individual matching the description of a male wanted for three apartment break-ins. The man was apprehended after a brief foot chase in the 2200 block of Little John.
Wayne McDowell Jr., 18, was arrested and charged two counts of burglary from Miller Apartments and one count of burglary from the Village Apartments.
The burglaries took place last week and at that time McDowell was developed as a suspect.
ALBANY POLICE — The Albany Police Department responded to at least 34 calls from Monday until midnight Tuesday. Some of the incidents were:
— Theft by taking on the 500 block of South Madison Street and the 300 block of Valencia Street.
— Burglary on the 2800 block of Palmyra Road and the 1100 block of Central Avenue.
— Aggravated assault on the 1200 block of Maryland Drive and the 500 block of Don Cutler Drive.
— Shoplifting on the 200 block of Cordele Road (two incidents), the 2600 block of Dawson Road (two incidents) and the 2500 block of Dawson Road.
— Criminal trespass on 1200 block of Gillespie Avenue and the 2200 block of Little John Road.
— Missing person on the 1100 block of Eager Drive, the 200 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard and the 200 block of Cordele Road.
— Entering auto on the 1500 block of 5th Avenue.
— Forgery on the 2400 block of Sylvester Road.
— Wanted person on the 1100 block of West Whitney Avenue and the 500 block of 4th Avenue.
— Assault on the 100 block of Moultrie Road.
— Disorderly conduct on the 500 block of Fourth Avenue and the 500 block of Cherry Lane.
— Reckless conduct on the 2200 block of South Madison Street.
DOUGHERTY POLICE — The Dougherty County Police Department responded to five calls from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Among the calls were:
— Suspended license at the intersection of South Mock Road and Moultrie Road.
— Suspicious auto on the 1200 block of Cordele Road.
— Auto accident at the intersection of Gillionville Road and Manchester Drive.
ALBANY FIRE — The Albany Fire Department responded to six incidents from 8 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday. Among the incidents were:
— Overheated motor on the 1300 block of Westwood Drive.
— Unauthorized burning on the 1200 block of 3rd Avenue.
— Smoke detector activation on the 900 block of Hobson Street.
— Auto accident victim extraction at the intersection of Old Dawson Road and Tallahassee Road.
DOUGHERTY EMS — No report was received from EMS Wednesday.
