Albany police investigating two weekend shootings

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is investigating two separate shootings that occurred early Saturday and Sunday mornings. Police reports say neither shooting resulted in injuries.
Just after midnight on Saturday, police were called to the residence of James Walls on the 200 block of Wells Avenue.
According to the report, Wells said he was sitting in his home when he heard multiple gunshots in the area. Walls advised that he went outside after the gunfire stopped. The report stated that while outside, Walls noticed a bullet hole in the glass portion of his screen door.
He went back inside the residence and discovered the bullet had penetrated the front door and the wall of his home.
There were no suspects in this case, police said.
At 6:48 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the 300 block of Thornwell Court where Cortrez Jackson complained he was shot at several times while in the 1400 block of East Tift Avenue between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.
The police report stated the shots were fired into the ground near where Jackson was standing. Police said two males were suspects in the shooting.
Both cases remain under investigation.
