Albany woman drives car into school

ALBANY — A building at the International Studies Elementary Charter School on Cutts Drive was struck on Tuesday morning by an SUV driven by a parent dropping off her child, school officials say.
R.D. Harter, director of public information for Dougherty County Schools, said the unidentified woman struck the building with her vehicle around 8 a.m. and also “side-swiped” another vehicle in the drop-off area of the school. The building sustained no damage, with only minor damage to the vehicles, Harter said. According to officials, no one was injured in the incident.
Harter said the woman stated afterward that she’d been sick recently with flu-like symptoms and may have blacked out just previous to driving her car into the school.
Following the incident, the woman was examined at the scene by EMTs, Harter said, but declined medical treatment or transportation to hospital.
