ALBANY — The home of George and Valerie Buchanan has been recognized as the yard of the Month for April by the Daffodil Garden Club.

Each month, the club chooses a metro Albany residence for its beauty. This month’s selection is located at 1201 N. Davis St.

“Albany is blooming all over,” said Marideane Maxwell, chair of the club’s Yard of the Month selection committee, “so many beautiful yards at this time of year.”

The Buchanan residence, she said, is “bursting with color. All is neat, and George is the one that keeps it in shape.”

“This home is located in the historical district and Valerie says they have lived here for over 20 years,” Maxwell said. “Most interesting is the fact that they are only the third family to occupy this lovely home. Make sure you drive through the area, as there are some exciting things to see.”

The club, which meets at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Federated Garden Center on Fifth Avenue in Albany, solicits nominations for its monthly recognition from the public. To make a suggestion for the committee to look at, contact Maxwell at (229) 436-6888.

Maxwell said club members hope the program will encourage residents to find ways to enhance appearance of their homes.

“The Daffodil club wants to encourage all Albanians to take a few minutes and look over your area, whether you own your home or you rent, and add a spot of beauty to your dwelling at this Easter season,” she said. “When you have pride in your home, it shows.”
