PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — What started out as a round with tons of promise took a downhill turn Friday for Albany golf pro Josh Broadaway, who fired a 5-over during the second round of the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open to finish with a two-day total of 6-over and miss his second straight cut. He ended Day 1 tied for 28th overall and was well on his way to playing on into the weekend.

The bad day was even more costly considering Broadaway, who entered the second-to-last Nationwide event of the season No. 26 on the Tour’s money list, will not earn a paycheck this week, dropping him further down the money list with only next week’s Nationwide Tour Championship in Charleston, S.C., left on the schedule. Broadaway, who was as high as No. 13 at one point in the season on the money list, needs to finish in the Top 25 to automatically earn his PGA Tour card for next season.
