ALBANY — For several decades, the Cutting Edge Epic Center International has been helping individuals through meals, clothing, blankets, school supplies and more. On Saturday the organization will hold a Cover Thy Neighbor fundraising event to help raise funds to keep those efforts rolling.

The charity event will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the Northwest Library, 2507 Dawson Road, with semi-formal attire requested for the occasion. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted.

Cutting Edge’s goal is to deliver outreach services designed to inspire individuals to lead safe and meaningful lives. Some of the methods used include conferences, lectures, courses and counseling, and extends those services to those who are homeless and in need of holistic counseling services.

Founded in 1994 as Taylor’s Refuge Village, the organization’s Community Resource Center took on the initiative of offering outreach and human services to the Albany/Dougherty County community. Its objective is to provide monthly meals to individuals facing financial hardship as well as on an as-needed basis. It also makes referrals to other community agencies and collects data each year to identify the community’s pressing needs and project services needed for the upcoming year.

Over its time in operation, Cutting Edge has extended its outreach to feed more than 7,000 individuals and families in the local community and surrounding counties.

Funds raised on Saturday will assist in ongoing services, and sponsorships will assist with the costs of providing those services throughout the year. Funds will assist with clothing, food, blankets, undergarments, soaps, and more to allow for expansion to help more people.
