America can’t afford to send farming away

LARRY HOLLOWAY

As our world gets more heavily populated, the farmers of America grow more food than ever before. America feeds the countries of the world, and the world hates us and would rejoice at our downfall.

Lately during this dry spell, a lot of people have squawked and condemned the farmer for his water usage, biting the hand that feeds them. The farmer must water the crop for it to produce; it must produce for him to stay in business and for us to survive. If his business fails, we will not eat because there will not be food.

Most businesses in this country have moved overseas because they can get their product made cheaper than they can here, allowing them to make more money. We cannot afford to lose the farms in this country. Let’s stop condemning the farmer, dig our wells deeper and when we run out of water, we’ll run out together.

We are Americans and united we’ll stand.
