CUTHBERT — One season after posting a horrific 1-35 record, the Andrew College softball team has already equaled that win total in its first two games.
Late Sunday, the Lady Tigers split with Enterprise (Ala.) College, losing 2-0, in the season opener, then rebounding strong and cruising to a 9-2 victory in Game 2.
Andrew, which is coached by third-year point man Mark Brown, was led by Amanda Pollock on the mound, who picked up the rare win — and loss — in the same day.
“Amanda was just awesome,” said Brown, whose team will host Darton College on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in a double header, which also marks the Lady Cavaliers’ 2010 season opener. “She was the story: Just two earned runs over two games and getting us one win right off the bat. It’s already better than last year.”
Helping out the Lady Tigers from the plate in Game 2 was Keela Griffin, who went 3-for-3 with two home runs and two RBI — all in her first collegiate game.
Griffin was followed by Ashley Ledford and Kayla Lumley, both of who hit singles and collected two RBI apiece.
