ALBANY — “War Room,” the fifth film from Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick and the first from their independent production company, will debut in theaters nationwide on Aug. 28.

Coming along with it is a line of books, including a novelization of the film, officials from the publishing companies say.

Tyndale House Publishers will release the novelization of the movie, written by author Chris Fabry, simultaneously with the release of the movie. The synopsis of the novel and the movie say that the story is about Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, who seem to have it all — great jobs, a beautiful daughter and their dream house. In reality, the couple’s world is crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. Tony basks in professional success and flirts with temptation, and Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness.

Their lives take a turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” as well as a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light — and he must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove that victories don’t come by accident, the synopsis says.

Officials say the film is also being accompanied by products from B&H Publishing Group, including a book by the Kendricks titled “The Battle Plan for Prayer,” and a book titled “Fervent” by New York Times best-
