Calhoun County Health Department resumes normal hours

MORGAN — The Calhoun County Health Department reports that, as of 8 a.m. on today, it has resumed its regular hours of operation and the air-conditioning equipment is fully operational.

Officials with the Southwest Public Health District said Monday that the health department would temporarily be open from 8 a.m.-noon because of broken air-conditioning equipment.

Public health officials said extreme heat made conditions too dangerous to keep the building open in the afternoon as the temperatures rise late in the day, prompting the schedule change. The heat index in the Albany area has been as high as 103 degrees over the past three days.

The staff expressed appreciation today to patients for their patience while the repairs were undertaken.
