ALBANY — The Dougherty District Attorney Child Death Team is involved in the investigation of the death of a 13-month old girl, as well as another girl who is about 20 months old, District Attorney Greg Edwards confirmed Monday.

Not many details were available Monday, other than the 13-month-old died in Dougherty County, and that there were other county ties involved, Edwards said. The district attorney would not elaborate further regarding where the death took place or when it occurred.

Edwards also said authorities were waiting to hear back regarding the autopsy results as well as “other forensic review.”

“We are waiting to see what we are dealing with along those lines,” he said.

More information is expected to be available regarding that investigation this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Edwards said there was another child, a girl who is about 20 months old, who died on Monday in Dougherty County. Preliminary results were still pending on that case Monday afternoon, he said.

Such incidents are generally looked into by the Child Death Team, which is a unit that responds to any report of a juvenile death to determine whether it was a natural death, an accident or the result of some criminal act.
