Christians should pray, not prey on the poor

If this is the “Bible Belt,” Holy Spirit, where are you? Those who claim to be Christian need a Bible remedial course in Christianity 101, because the principles of Jesus Christ are missing in their political and social scheme of things. Jesus had love and compassion for the vulnerable; for the poor, for the sick, for children. He fed them, He healed them, He raised them from the dead, and finally He died for them.
It is purely inconsistent with the principles of Jesus Christ for the “Bible Belt” to support raising revenue on the backs of the elderly, the sick, the working class poor and the middle class, children and students — the most vulnerable in our society — by cutting their social security, medicare, medicaid safety nets and education assistance, while giving more tax cuts and loopholes to millionaires and billionaires.
During his eight years in office, President Bush gave tax cuts and tax loopholes to the wealthy under the belief that they would create jobs for the American people under the “trickle down” effect. It was a ruse because it did not create jobs in America. If there was any kind of so-called “trickling down,” it “trickled” overseas to create jobs for the people over there, not for Americans. Any other “trickle down” was into their own pockets for private jets and other luxurious living.
The Republican and evangelical poor working class, middle class, the elderly, the sick, the young and students have been deceived into voting against their own best interests because no one earning less than $250,000 a year will see their taxes increased one dime.
Evangelical Christians need to pray because it is a shame before God for them to support preying on the Helpless!
