ALBANY — Southwest Georgia residents seeking help with debt management, credit counseling and other financial education will now be able to benefit from the expertise of the nation’s largest, non-profit credit counseling agency as Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) of Southwest Georgia has merged with Money Management International (MMI).

Founded in 1991, CCCS of Southwest Georgia has helped an estimated 55,000 individuals and families regain control of their finances with the assistance of CCCS of Southwest Georgia’s team of financial educators.

According to Irma Whitten, the recently retired former president and CEO of CCCS of Southwest Georgia, the move to join forces with MMI will allow customers access to a greater array of services.

“Partnering with MMI allows us to expand and improve on our mission by providing our community and clients with the highest quality financial counseling and education services,” said Whitten in a news release. “In addition to the experienced, hands-on assistance they’ve come to expect, local families will now have increased access to a diverse collection of valuable national programs, educational tools, and potentially life-changing resources.”

All of CCCS of Southwest Georgia’s current employees will be offered positions at MMI. The Albany location will operate as a full service MMI location, offering face-to-face financial education and counseling services.

Currently MMI operates more than 70 branches nationwide. The Albany branch will remain in the current location of CCCS of Southwest Georgia at 409 N. Jackson St.

“We are proud to welcome CCCS of Southwest Georgia to the MMI family,” said MMI President and CEO Ivan Hand in a news release. “Together we will grow the vital work they’ve been doing in the local community for nearly a quarter of a century.”
