Contract dispute displaces nearly 200 contractors at Marine Corps Logistics Command

MCLB-ALBANY — A government contract dispute has displaced nearly 199 contractors connected to Marine Corps Logistics Command, officials at Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany said Tuesday afternoon.

A recently awarded government contract that provided for the care of warehoused supplies for LOGCOM was disputed Monday by a company that did not win the contract. The $8.5 million contract awarded to Prime Tech International, Inc. on Dec 23 encompasses areas of inventory management and control, serialization, general warehousing, storage, tactical vehicle maintenance, kitting, marking and labeling equipment as well as distribution of Marine Corps principal end items, base officials said.

Under Federal Acquisition Law, when an awarded contract is disputed a stay, or work stoppage, has to be placed on the contract work until the matter is resolved by the Government Accountability Office. This is the second time the award of this contract has been disputed by the same company.

There were 199 Prime Tech International, Inc. employees issued notices Monday because of the dispute. None of these personnel are government employees, base officials said.

Officials cannot comment further while the matter is under litigation. The litigation process can take the General Accountability Office up to 120 days to resolve.
