Darton State College softball sweeps East Georgia State

ALBANY — Darton State College’s Lady Cavaliers dominated East Georgia State Wednesday, sweeping a double-header 4-2 and 13-9 at home.

“Our players showed a ton of fight today,” Darton State head softball coach Amber Miles said. “We came in with a plan to take two wins and that’s exactly what we did. I’m incredibly proud of this team for pulling together like they did.”

Tiffany Bishop had four strikeouts for the win in Game 1. She allowed only one run, which gave East Georgia a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. However Darton rallied back in the following inniing with an offensive effort led by Nicole McInerney (2 for 3) to score four runs in the fifth.

In Game 2, the Lady Cavaliers found themselves down 0-4 before cranking 9 runs in the fourth inning to take a heavy lead.

Jordan Allen led at the plate, going 3 for 3 and once hit by a pitch.

Chantel Sims had a fourth-inning homer that scored 3 runs. Alaina Walker was

2 for 4. Bishop hit a 2-run double and Daniel turner hit a triple with a RBI in the sixth.

The Lady Cavaliers looked composed and stronger over the two games, and now have a 4-game winning streak.

“You can tell there’s a difference there,” Miles said. “I hope it continues and that it’s consistent.”

The wins improve Darton’s conference record to 4-4 as they host South Georgia State College in a double-header at noon, Saturday.
