Darton to host JUCO Women’s Basketball Jamboree

The Darton State College Lady Cavaliers are starting basketball season off with a bang.
On Saturday, the team hosts the 2015 Southeast JUCO Women’s Basketball Jamboree at Cavalier Arena.
A total of 33 women’s basketball teams will be in attendance representing Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and North Carolina. They’ll have the chance to showcase their skills in front of more than 120 college scouts of various levels.
Darton State athletic director and women’s basketball coach Lea Henry said her team is ready to not only get the season started but to also put their talents on display against some tough competitors.
“Hosting the Southeast JUCO Jamboree in the Darton State Cavalier Arena with 33 teams participating and over 100 Division 1, 2 and NAIA Coaches in attendance to evaluate the talent affords us the opportunity to showcase the Darton State campus and our extraordinary athletic facilities,” Henry said. “Our team is excited to compete against some of the top programs in the country.”
The Jamboree will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday morning and runs until 9 p.m. with four games starting every hour. The Lady Cavaliers are scheduled to play at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $10, children 12 and under get in free.
