Dougherty County Superior Court Judge and District Attorney candidates to attend public forum

ALBANY – Candidates from the Dougherty County District Attorney and Superior Court Judge races will present their platforms at a candidate forum, April 18, at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ at 411 Gaines Ave.

District Attorney candidates Gregory Edwards (incumbent) and Elizabeth Gibson will be present as well as Judge of Superior Court candidates Victoria Darrisaw, Michael Tabarrok, Valerie Brown-Williams and Victoria Johnson were invited by William Godfrey, a local attorney and advocate.

Candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their experience, qualifications and plans for office. The forum is open to the public, but no questions will be taken from the audience.

This is Godfrey’s first time hosting a candidate forum, but he said he believes voters need to hear from these candidates.

“These two positions really impact the trajectory and quality of life of the communities,” he said.

Godfrey said people often overlook local elections, which have some of the greatest impact on the everyday lives of citizens.

He said as a practicing attorney, these races impact the arena he works in every day.

“I just want to make sure that everyone is aware of the options,” Godfrey said. “This is a local election and an important election because it relates to our everyday lives and how laws are enforced in our justice system within our community.”
