“They’re going to come back and build something for the community where we can also hold voting. When they’re finished with Bill Miller, we’re going to ask to go back over there.”

ALBANY – Voters who cast ballots at two Albany voting precincts will be relocated for the May 19 and Nov. 3 elections due to the temporary closing of facilities.

The precincts closed for the 2026 election cycles are Bill Miller, located at 312 Vick St., and the old Mt. Zion Baptist Church facility, located at 1905 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

“It (Bill Miller) is under renovation, so we are no longer able to use that facility,” Dougherty County Elections Supervisor Ginger Nickerson said.

The Mt. Zion facility was vandalized, including having wiring stripped from the building, and it is slated for demolition, she added.

“They’re going to come back and build something for the community where we can also hold voting,” Nickerson said. “When they’re finished with Bill Miller, we’re going to ask to go back over there.”

Voters who traditionally vote at Bill Miller will vote this year at Albany State University’s Lovett Hall, located on the university’s East Campus. That precinct is located at 109 Joseph Holley Circle.

Voters from the Mt. Zion precinct will vote at the First Mt. Olive Jake Edwards Fellowship Hall, located at 513 Corn Ave.

Twenty-three precincts will be open for the May 19 general primary and nonpartisan election.  The election office will place signage at the two closed precincts directing voters to the correct location, Nickerson said.

The changes also are reflected on the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
