ALBANY, Ga. — The Exchange Club of Albany took time Friday to honor those with outstanding service in the Albany Fire Department and the Dougherty County Emergency Service.

The firefighter of the year award went to firefighter Jason Davis, as Exchange Club President H. Joe “Skip” Nichols handed over a check and a commemorative plaque.

Along with his E-2 fire-fighting team Lt. Dwayne Denny, Doug Bice and Joey Rogers, Davis fought two structure fires December 6, 2011. Davis was honored for his response at a third the same day on the 600 block of West Fifth Avenue.

The citation said, “Because of Davis’ quick and selfless act the fire victim was able to see another day.”

Paramedic Matt Morris a member of Dougherty County EMS since 2008 received a check and a plaque for his work as an EMT, training new hires and because he “is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.”
